Technology has announced the appointment of Direct SA as an important new

introduced the first vertical, top mount, SMT, wire-to- board connector specifically designed to meet the configuration, performance, and cost goals faced by industrial and solid-state lighting design engineers. Featuring AVX’s industry-proven dual-beam, 3mm, high spring force box contacts packaged in a protective insulator, the new 9296 Series vertical, top mount, poke home connectors provide maximum mechanical stability

and wire retention in addition to simple strip and insert wire loading and twist and pull wire removal. Designed to surface mount on the top of a PCB, the new one- to six-way 9296 connectors allow users to insert solid or stranded, plated or un-plated, 18-26AWG wires directly through the connector’s top aperture and are ideal for a variety of industrial applications, including: LED lighting, smart meters, building controls, fire and security systems, and industrial motor controls and drivers, among others.

board hardware manufacturer, has announced that its Gecko family of high performance connectors will be used on CubeSat miniature satellites being designed by Surrey Space Centre as part of the international QB50 programme led by the von Karman Institute, Belgium. The QB50 program will study in situ the temporal and spatial variations of a number of parameters in the lower thermosphere using a network of around 40 double CubeSats Carrying identical sensors. QB50 will also study the re-entry process by measuring and

comparing actual trajectories and orbital lifetimes during re-entry against predicted data. A third part of the programme will see about 10 double or triple CubeSats used for In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) of technologies including miniature sensors and the Gossamer-1 solar sail.

he new Hawker® BSI40™ battery status indicator is the latest battery rotation system from EnerSys®. It provides users with a cost-effective solution to manage

for warehouse

trucks and other mechanical handling equipment. The system enables life-long service reliability,

efficiency and

sustainability. It has been designed for use with the Hawker® Lifetech® HF range of high frequency chargers and can also be integrated with existing chargers by the addition of optional sensors.

The BSI40 panel is suitable for wall or rack- mounting and can manage up to 40 chargers.

Four panels can be networked which means a maximum of 160 chargers can be supported by a single system – more than enough capacity for most fleet users. The batteries can be configured in up to ten separate groups or families. In this way the BSI40 system can manage chargers and batteries with different specifications to provide operators with a high degree of flexibility, adaptability and scalability.

The product is suitable for new and retro-fit installations which enables

operators to introduce higher levels of control over existing battery and charger infrastructure with minimal investment. In doing so it offers a straightforward and affordable route into advanced battery fleet management.

The BSI40 battery status indicator is ideal for enforcing first in, first out battery rotation to promote balanced and optimised fleet utilisation. Proper rotation and charge balancing helps to ensure longer truck run-times between

changes and maximises EnerSys Motive Power battery performance and service life.

Selecting the best battery is also vital to maximising truck fleet up-time and improving profitability.

The silica gel adsorbers can be reactivated for re-use, by heating them at 100ºC (212ºF) for 4 hours in a ventilated oven. Molecular sieve adsorbers maintain an ultra-low relative humidity for extremely sensitive applications and cannot be reactivated. These are particularly useful for equipment operating under extreme temperature conditions as molecular sieves can eliminate any moisture dropout.

The use of panel mounting desiccators will not only extend the operating life of equipment. It can also help in extending the safe working environmental limits, in which equipment can work.
