TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION
mphenol Industrial Global Operations, a global leader in interconnect systems, has expanded its Hercules series to offer a new junction box that has been designed to meet the stringent technical requirements of the solar industry.
The UL/TUV
approved Hercules II meet NEC2008/2011 standards and provides a smaller overall footprint of 84.9 mm x 80.9 mm x 19.5 mm with a current rating of 10 A and a rated voltage of 1,000 VDC (TUV) and 1,000 VDC (UL).
Industrial switched- mode power supplies

ONTA-CLIP presents the PSPM and PSPC series of 24 V DC DIN rail power supply units. Each series comprises two models that supply output currents of 1 or 2 A, or 5 or 10 A. The units can be connected in line or in parallel, thus allowing for larger currents and voltages. The compact, low-cost devices safely transform 100..240 V AC to 24 V DC – all models comply with EN 61558-2-16 and EN 60950-1 (SELV) and fulfill EMC requirements according to EN 61204-3. The output voltage can be set between 23 and
28.5 V DC via a rotary potentiometer at the device front side. The power supplies are simply connected to the mains. Designed for 47..63 Hz, they can be used worldwide. Push-in terminal clamps ensure a quick,
stable connection. PSPM and PSPC DC supplies are suitable for a wide range of applications in solar, measurement, and control technology as well as in industrial and building automation.

Slimline: new AKD-N distributed servo drives A
KD-N is the new distributed servo drive generation from Kollmorgen.
The drive system comprises robust IP67-rated
controllers, which are positioned in close proximity to the motor and supplied by a central power module located in the switchgear cabinet. The 11 mm diameter hybrid cable perfectly delivers the power as well as the fieldbus communication to the AKD-N. The controllers can therefore be operated directly in series via DC bus connection without an additional supply, covering power ratings of up to 4 kW. Safe Torque Off is integrated into the range as standard and can be deactivated on an individual or collective basis. Typical fields of application of the new devices include packaging machines and production systems in the food and beverage industry. Out of the cabinet and hygienically packaged directly on the machine, the distributed AKD-N servo drives significantly reduce cabinet volumes and cabling effort - depending on the application in question, savings of over 80% can be achieved.

Multi-function Boundary-scan Testers J
K
TAG Technologies announces the latest in its highly regarded range of boundary-scan controller hardware for PCB assembly and system testing – the versatile JT 5705 series. This new design concept incorporates both JTAG/boundary-scan controller functions and mixed- signal measurement & I/O channels. Extensive input protection ensures high levels of in-service reliability. The JT 5705/USB version is a desktop instrument, aimed at hardware validation applications and small- scale production test. It features two 15 MHz TAPs and 64 I/Os available through 0.1” connectors. 56 of the I/O channels are always digital, with a frequency function. The remaining 8 channels can be used as either digital or analog I/O. The unit also contains a user programmable FPGA for custom digital I/O options. JT 5705/USBs can also be combined into a single JTAG controller providing multiple TAPs and hundreds of I/Os.

Production time cut in half:
urtz-Ersa, Europe’s foremost manufacturer of
solder equipment, has switched from box assembly to flow assembly. This conversion enables them to process the rising number of orders without having to extend the shop floor. The machines which weigh several tons are transported through the assembly stations by means of RoundTrack technology from STROTHMANN Machines & Handling. The
hardened rails are embedded in
aluminum holding profiles in the hall floor. They pose no barrier when walking or pushing a rolling shelf across. The round rails and the special wheel shape combine for minimal rolling resistance, enabling heavy loads to be transported with little energy and high positioning precision. Having transferred to
flow production, Kurtz-Ersa has
reduced the average period for completing a machine by half. As a further advantage,
