THE INSTITUTE of Sound and Communications Engineers has appointed Anthony Smith as its new president. Smith founded AVX Systems before going on to develop one of the first digital networking voice alarm systems (VxLAN, later SigNET) and in 1999 the first generation SigTEL fire telephone system.


“It’s a great honour to be asked to take on this role with ISCE and I would like to thank Terry (Baldwin, who stepped down as president) for


his tireless work over the past four years and I hope to take the ISCE forward in a similar manner,” said Smith. “My main focus in the coming years is going to be on certification skills training to members, to raise both their and the Institute’s profile.” Smith’s appointment follows the announcement of ISCEx2014 seminar and exhibition details.
