sideration and has agreed on the following details of the new USA Men’s and Women’s World Championships Team Qualification Process begin- ning with 2014: • Teams can count their 5 best Order of Merit (OOM) results going into Nationals.

• Tere is no requirement to include an international event. • Tere is no requirement to include a U.S. event. • All U.S. teams will start the season at zero points. • All U.S. teams will be required to register their team with the World Curling Tour to be eligible to score OOM points toward USA Worlds Team Qualification.


• Teams must have a minimum of 3 eligible, registered players on the ice for all games at any event to earn OOM points towards USA Worlds Team Qualification.


• Teams can only use U.S. Nationals eligible players of the same gen- der as a substitute to earn OOM points toward USA Worlds Team Qualification.


• Te U.S. National Championships shall award teams double the OOM value with a minimum 100% points value; i.e., first place will be worth a minimum of 45 points (see appendix 1).


• Te 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials teams will be awarded OOM points at a maximum of 12.5 for first place, i.e. 25% of the Olympic Trials value of 50 points for first place (see appendix 2).


• USA’s World Championship teams will be the men’s and women’s teams with the highest OOM points total at the conclusion of the 2014 USA Curling Men’s and Women’s Nationals who have placed in the top 3 in their respective National Championship.





If there is a tie in points, the team placing highest among the top 3 at the Nationals will qualify as USA’s World Championship team. Appendix 1


Order of Merit Points to be awarded at U.S. Nationals will be a minimum


of 100% value. If the U.S. Nationals meet all 3 criteria below, then the points will be doubled, i.e. 90 points for first and so on. Men’s/Women’s Tier 2 Playdowns: (CAN/USA = Nationals, ASIA/EUROPE = Pacifics/Europeans) For the event to award maximum points, they must meet all three condi-


tions below: 1. Must have 10 or more teams. 2. Must have 2 teams in the Top 10, OR 3 teams in the Top 25, OR 5 teams


in the Top 50 on the Order of Merit at the beginning of the event competi- tion. 3. IF both 1 and 2 are met, this condition is considered met, otherwise a


team from the World region in question must have finished in the top half of the field at the previous year’s World Championships. Events meeting 2 of 3 conditions receive 50% of point values, while events

ifying Trials points calculations. Te 2014 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Order of Merit points will be capped at a maximum of 25% of full value, i.e. a maximum of 12.5 points for first place and so on. As no third place team will be determined at the Trials, the first place finisher will receive 12.5 points, second place finisher will receive 8.75 points, and all other teams will receive 1 point for each round robin win. Olympic National Qualifying Trials: For the event to award maximum points, they must meet all conditions


below: 1. To receive maximum points, events must have 8 or more teams. 2. To receive maximum points, events must have 2 teams in the Top 10,


OR 3 teams in the Top 25, OR 5 teams in the Top 50 on the Order of Merit at the beginning of the event competition. Events meeting 1 of 2 conditions receive 50% of point values, while events


meeting none of the conditions will receive 25% of point values. * Qualifying Events leading to National Olympic Trials will be awarded


points based on Strength of Field Multiplier and Base Values, with no mini- mum number of teams limit. 1st
