An ideal choice for public sector organisations

W
ith one of the widest car and van ranges of any manufacturer, professional
drivers have always been drawn to the Peugeot brand. That appeal will be further strengthened with the arrival of the New 308, a premium compact family hatchback that is quite simply the most competitive and compelling vehicle the brand has ever launched for business users.
Phil Robson, Peugeot’s fl eet director, explained: “Everything about the New 308 has been improved dramatically. It’s the most fl eet- friendly Peugeot there has ever been, designed from the drawing board with the corporate customer in mind. The only thing it has in common with the old model is its name.”
With CO2 emissions as low as 82g/km – a new benchmark for C-segment vehicles – and fuel economy as high as 91.1mpg, the New 308 is an outstandingly effi cient car.
It means a BIK cost that’s £10 a month lower than a popular rival, and optimisation of SMR means running costs are lower than ever before and now competitive with the segment leaders.
With OTR prices from only £14,495 it’s also exceptional value for money.
Inside, the Peugeot i-Cockpit is a revolutionary interior concept, decluttering the dashboard and condensing functionality into an advanced touch-screen interface. Packed with desirable features, it makes driving convenience and safe.
The result is a car that’s the ideal choice for public sector organisations.
Underpinning it all – quite literally – would be a new level of environmental performance, thanks to Peugeot’s innovative and lightweight EMP2 chassis.
Overall, the car is 140kg lighter than its predecessor. That has lowered the centre of gravity by 20mm and coupled with a ‘wheel in each corner’ approach has also led to an enhanced dynamic experience for the driver.
The New 308 will be available from launch with three petrol and two diesel units, the most
appealing of which for public sector drivers will be the 1.6-litre HDi 115bhp engine with a CO2 output of only 95g/km. A BIK value of 13% means a 40% tax payer would contribute just £81 per month, £10 less than for a Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion.

Three more engines will arrive in March 2014 and the headline-grabber will be the e-HDi 120bhp Blue Lion, with best-in-class emissions of only 82g/km.
SMR has also benefi ted. Service intervals across the range have risen from 12,500 to 16,000 miles.
On a typical three-year / 60,000 mile contract the number of services drops from four to three. That cuts labour cost, but also the number of replacement parts required. For example, on the New 308 the fuel fi lter is replaced once instead of twice, the pollen fi lter once instead of four times.
Making life comfortable for the business driver is Peugeot’s i-Cockpit, a radical departure from traditional automotive interior design. Behind the small steering wheel is a high-level instrument cluster, to the side a large touch- screen located at the top of an integrated centre console.
It’s designed to be simulating and modern, and Peugeot believes it sets new standards in comfort and convenience for the business driver.
For drivers who need boot space, the 420-litre load area is best in class and 22% larger than on outgoing 308. The improvement comes with no sacrifi ce of rear passenger space.
It’s just one of numerous examples where Peugeot has challenged convention with the New 308, a car which sets new standard for today’s corporate driver.
