BBC Radio 3 have axed both

World Routes and the associated World Routes Academy. According to controller Roger Wright, “Radio 3 is playing its part in the BBC’s savings plans and so our changes are the result of our having to work with a reduced budget and more limited resources… World Routes is a terrifically distinctive programme but it is costly with all the foreign travel and so we are giving it a break.”

BBC Radio 3’s World On 3 continues on Fridays at 11pm with highlights from Womex presented by Lopa Kathari (Oct 25 & Nov 29) and Mary Ann Kennedy presenting Capercaillie (Nov 1st) and April Verch (8th).
