ELECTRONIC ARTS to the stage at its Gamescom press event last night to announce that FIFA 14will be the biggest game in the franchise’s history.


The title now boasts 33 official football leagues, 600 clubs and an incredible 16,000 players, while new gameplay features – such as 2 vs 2 online player – was greeted with cheering from the crowd in Cologne. The big announcement was around Xbox One exclusive content FIFA Ultimate Team Legends. Xbox One owners will be able to play as 40 different

legends from football history – such as Pele and Dennis Bergkamp in FIFA 14’s Ultimate Team mode. A demo for FIFA 14 goes live from September 10th ahead of the game’s September 27th release date in the UK. EA also used its Gamescom press conference to show off FIFA 14on mobile, which MCV has played and found surprisingly intuitive. The touchscreen game is free-to-play, as is a new PC download game called FIFA World. FIFA Worldis aimed specifically at the Brazilian and Russian markets.


Ubisoft signs Watch Dogs movie deal… even before the game is released

THE GAME isn’t even out until November 22nd, but Ubisoft has already signed a deal to take the franchise to Hollywood. Watch Dogsis the latest Ubisoft franchise to set its sights on Hollywood. The project is a


collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment and New Regency.


“Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the

interaction of the video game,” said Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.


“In addition, Sony Pictures and New Regency have deep production expertise and are letting us maintain a strong creative voice in the film’s development.


“Together, we’re confident we can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”


Ubisoft is also working on movies for Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell, while Michael Bay is making a film based on Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise.
