TMA Fall Conference coming in October


Join your friends and colleagues in Austin Oct. 18–19 for the many business, edu- cational, and social events scheduled at the 2013 Texas Medical Association Fall Conference at the AT&T Conference Center. In addition, you, your families, and your staff can get a flu shot or Tdap (tetanus,


diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccination at the conference. Vaccinations will be admin- istered from 7:30 am to 8:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 19. Flu shots will cost $27; FluMist, $40; and Tdap shots, $80. Be sure to reserve your vaccination when you register for TMA’s Fall Conference. Registration opened Aug. 1 at www.texmed.org/fall/, and you need to book your hotel room by Sept. 26 to get the discounted $182 rate. One in five Texans get the flu each year. To create awareness about the health risks associated with the flu, the Texas Legislature has deemed Oct. 1 as Influenza Aware- ness Day. TMA’s Be Wise — Immunize is joining the effort by hosting flu clinics and educational events across the state on Oct. 1. We need your help. PPACA employer mandate delayed


Physicians who have 50 or more em- ployees have another year to comply with the “employer mandate” of the Pa- tient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
