SLAVINSKI TURNS IN TOP AMERICAN PERFORMANCE AT LONG DISTANCE WORLDS
Dave Slavinski picked up the overall win and the sole medal for the Americans on June 1 at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Belfort, France.

The race, originally scheduled as a 4-kilometer swim, 120-kilometer bike and 30-kilometer run, was changed due to unexpected cold weather and was contested as a 9.5k run, 87k bike, 20k run event instead.

Slavinski (Point Pleasant, N.J.) defended his 40-44 age-group world title at the event, crossing the line as the first overall amateur finisher in 4 hours, 32 minutes, 49 seconds. Slavinski adds this win to a collection of other honors, including titles at USA Triathlon’s 2012 Long Course Triathlon Nationals and 2012 Long Course Duathlon Nationals.
