Labyrinth for Livonia Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, Livonia, Mich., on the weekend of its

50th anniversary and “World Labyrinth Day” (May 4) dedicated a labyrinth and prayer park, built and landscaped entirely by members. The labyrinth, an ancient spiritual tool used for walking and praying, rests in the church’s publicly acces- sible meditation garden, serving as its “front porch.” It includes Luther’s seal, a symbol of the Trinity, as well as a fountain, bridge, fire circle and prayer park. The labyrinth is a design variation of one found in the Chartres Cathedral in France. Eleven circuits are divided into four quadrants clearly defined by a cross.
