Dear Sisters,

I can hardly believe it, but I’m about to say goodbye! This month, we’ll celebrate 100 years at the Gala Concert at National Convention, and I will turn over the reins to Armithea “Sissy” Borel from Louisiana. What a month! In this magazine, we will look at an issue close to all our hearts: POW/MIAs. Many of you will host ceremonies honoring and remembering prisoners of war and those still missing in action. As you plan for that, this article will inspire you with hope that the United States is still looking for every soldier, sailor, airman or marine yet to be recovered. Junior Girls across the country continue to do amazing

things for veterans and their communities. See Pages 14-15 for the story of one Unit’s trip to the USS Yorktown at Patriot’s Point, Charleston Harbor, South Carolina, and their fascinating educational experience. Get excited for the 100th Anniversary of our

organization! In addition to the Gala Concert at National Convention, we’ll introduce our book “100 Years for Our Veterans,” which will be available from the VFW Store. This will start the celebration of the 100th year of service for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. As we look to our past for strength, we will embrace the future with hope. Thank you to ALL of you for what you’ve given to this organization, to veterans, to the military and to your communities.

Loyally, Leanne Lemley National President
