LEADING LAWYERS INTERNATIONAL FIRMS Leading lawyers

Not everyone holds the same view of what makes a leading lawyer. But we can say with certainty that the energy and infrastrcuture markets of Latin America would look quite different if not for deals carried out in the past year with the input of the lawyers listed below. They may spearhead billion-dollar mergers or oversee the more arcane aspects of loan securitisations, but their acumen and sophistication come up often in discussions with peers, clients, in-house counsel and industry figures. The US lawyers appearing here generally carry out deals under New York law. In cases where a client needs counsel on aspects of local law, the US and Canadian firms (with the notable exception of Cleary Gottlieb, Milbank, Norton Rose and a few others with one or more local offices) are likely to make use of a standing arrangement with attorneys qualified to practice locally.
