The Sheffield City Region is at the forefront of the UK’s industrial and entrepreneurial development and was recently described by Business Secretary Vince Cable as being ‘at the heart’ of the country’s continued economic growth. Illustrating its blossoming status, the city was one of the first areas in the UK to be given approval for an Enterprise Zone, which offers a range of benefits and incentives to help companies grow and create jobs. These include capital allowances and Business Rate Relief schemes on discrete sites, as well as simplified planning procedures and infrastructure developments to provide access to superfast broadband. “The Enterprise Zone has been a really key influencer on inward investment,” says Cutler. “It is one of only a few in the country to offer Enhanced Capital Allowances – 100 per cent first-year allowances for investments in certain water-efficient plant and machinery.
