INSIGHT CASE STUDY

NEW CHANNELS Leveraging its group-wide strengths in energy and utilities, Mahindra Satyam is enabling partnerships between UK companies and Mahindra Water Utilities (MWU) and Mahindra Consulting Engineers (MACE). MWU is the only Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in India, providing water to one of the most drought-ridden communities in the country.

The business, formed eight years ago, can take advantage of the latest technology and best practice to overcome India’s sometimes challenging operating conditions. This makes it an ideal ‘laboratory’ for utilities in mature economies that have to make difficult investment decisions.

Utility companies, specifically those in the UK water sector, have a significant advantage of having worked in an optimised environment for a long time. Such expertise could be leveraged by MWU and MACE for some of its global engagements in the Middle East and Africa. This two-way partnership enables UK companies to grow internationally, while Indian companies gain much-needed expertise and experience in efficient operations of a water utility.
