Vessel launch and delivery Incat-designed ferry joins


African fleet African ferry operator Coastal Fast Ferries has taken delivery of a new 45m loa aluminium passenger catamaran, Kilimanjaro IV, which was designed by Incat Crowther and built by Richardson Devine Marine, both of Australia. Te Tanzania-flagged vessel, which is reported to be the seventh Incat Crowther- designed build to enter the Coastal Fast Ferries fleet, has been designed with an 11.5m beam, a 1.1m draught and a depth of 3.9m, and is capable of carrying up to 606 passengers and 10 members of crew. Te vessel’s main deck has been split into two


separate passenger cabins; a business class zone, with 86 seats, and an economy-class area, seating 168. The premium class cabin, located upstairs from the main deck, is furnished with 88 seats. Te remaining, economy seats are located on the vessel’s exterior, including the upper aſt deck, roof deck and foredeck. Te cat has also designed with a separate freight compartment, capable of transporting up to 32 freight carts. Kilimanjaro IV is powered by four Cummins KTA 50 M2 engines, generating 1,342kW apiece, which drive a quartet of Kamewa 50A3 waterjets through ZF 7600 NR2H gearboxes. Tis set-up results in a


fully-loaded service speed of 35knots, although a top speed of 38knots was recorded in sea trials. Te vessel also has the capacity to carry up to 20,000litres of fuel oil and 4,000litres of fresh water.

boats fuel Damen orders Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a pair of 12-passenger offshore wind farm crew carriers to SeaZip Offshore Service, for deployment on a large-scale wind farm situated in the North Sea, 90km north-west of the German island of Borkum. Te sister vessels, monikered SeaZip 1 and SeaZip 2, were built to Damen’s Fast Crew Supplier (FSC) 2610 specifications, including a loa of 25.6m, a beam of 10.3m, a depth of 2.9m and a 2.2m draught. Te duo will be chartered by wind farm array developer and operator BARD Group. Te FSC 2610 class includes a ‘Twin Axe’ bow


configuration, for increased stability and reduced fuel consumption in treacherous North Sea conditions. Each of the two vessels, which have been classed by Bureau Veritas, can carry up to four members of crew in addition to its 12-technician complement, and features: a fuel oil capacity of 14.2m3


; a fresh water


capacity of 1.8m³; and a cargo deck area spanning 90m². Tis latter area can handle up to 15tonnes’ worth of cargo, and comes with a Heila HLM 20-2S deck crane. Each vessel is powered by a pair of Caterpillar C32


TTA main engines, rated between 1,500-1,790 brake kilowatts (bkW) each, combined with twin Reintjes ZWVS two-speed gearboxes and a pair of fixed pitch
