HERE COMES THE SUN

In summer things flourish, our trees and fields are green, our nature is alive, and our sport of Rugby League accelerates to a new level. We have fun, we all enjoy it, and we all improve.

One of the challenges for us as coaches is to keep that ‘sun’ shining for our players all year round – regardless of weather, time and season.

The England teams are no different from our local under 11s teams, they need the same stimulus. They want to feel part of a group, they want to improve, and they want to enjoy themselves.

Just like our crops that grow in summer we need to provide all of our players with key ingredients to enable them to do this. Let’s be the sun, the water and the rich soil for our players, not the snow, the ice or the cold winds which can damage our crops for good!

This issue of Coaching Matters is full of useful information for you to use to improve your coaching, and interviews with coaches who are keen to share their experiences from grass roots to elite level.

I hope you enjoy your Coaching Matters. Steve McNamara
