SIMON PEACH


Coaching the Warriors is an opportunity I relish and one that hopefully will see our team progress in the NCL. We are getting 30–35 players every session, which is encouraging, and there seems to be a real buzz about the place. Everyone is putting effort and enthusiasm into training and seem to be enjoying the challenges set for them. In my opinion, enjoying training is a big factor and it always shows on match days. I’m confident with the talent we have down here, and if everyone plays to plan and to the best of their abilities, we will be challenging for promotion, which is the goal. I’m under no illusions that


this is going to be the hardest season the Warriors have faced to date. We have several derby matches, and bragging rights will be tested. We have a few new additions to the squad and some older players returning. This means occasionally we will have a selection headache, but that’s a good problem to have. Warriors’ ‘A’ team will also benefit from this as long as everyone remains committed. The ‘A’ team is now in the Premier Division of the Yorkshire Men’s League, which is a strong division and is going to be a real challenge.

There is a real community feel about the place and we are very proud of our success in keeping a grass roots club like this afloat.

The finances are well managed and I have a good track record in taking care of budgets.


THE PLAYER


I’m really hoping for us to be promoted this year.

We approach this season with a larger squad to select from and a much more disciplined team. We will pick up fewer penalties because of this and our game will see an improvement as a direct result. I


think a good coach is someone you can consider a friend, but also someone you will look up to and follow their advice and direction because they really know the game.


Having clear direction from a coach who knows their stuff is a massive boost to our chances.


The board was very pleased to be able to appoint Simon as head coach as he is very well respected here and I’m sure he will do great things with the team.


We are looking forward to a successful season.
