Somerset care home sold to experienced

operator

Specialist property adviser Christie + Co has sold Osborne House care home in Clevedon, north Somerset for an undisclosed sum. Osborne House fell into

administration in July 2012 and closed shortly afterwards. Following a national marketing campaign, the property was sold to Mike Slator, a care operator with many years’ experience in the care of dementia clients.

Sale of Sunkist guarantees care and saves jobs

Sunkist Care Home, a period townhouse close to Worthing town centre, in West Sussex, has been sold to an experienced existing care operator. It means a secure future for the 23 residents and 17 workers.

The home went into

administration in 2011 and Chris Stevens and Ian Vickers, partners at specialist restructuring, recovery and insolvency fi rm FRP Advisory sought a buyer. Said Chris Stevens: “When the company was placed into administration we made a decision to continue to trade whilst seeking a buyer for the business as a going concern. The care of the residents was always paramount in our strategy. “This has been a great example of how the

administration process can be used to help a business continue to trade while a long term solution is found to the satisfaction of all concerned.”

purpose-built extension at the rear, and provides a total of 28 bedrooms. Mr Slator said: “We are delighted to acquire Osborne House and look forward to refurbishing the property throughout before reopening the building as a dementia care home for the elderly.”

West Lancs care group expands through

acquisition West Lancashire based care group, Holt Green Residential Homes, is saving 16 jobs and expanding its portfolio following the acquisition of Ormskirk residential care home, Willow Lodge - formerly known as Moss View.

The purchase will ensure continuing nursing care for up to 22 people, including those requiring support associated with dementia. The new owner, Joan Parr, who also owns Silver Birch Lodge in Aughton, said: “I am delighted to add Willow Lodge to our portfolio. Whilst the existing standards of the home meet the CQC guidelines, working with the current manager, Diane Barkley, I have ambitious plans to make Willow Lodge one of the leading care homes in west Lancashire, beginning with a refurbishment and the implementation of thorough staff training at all levels.” Silver Birch, which opened in 1987, provides residential nursing accommodation for up to 30 elderly people. Training. Originally established to service Silver Birch Lodge staff, the company now provides training support to businesses in many industries throughout the region. Each member of staff at Willow Lodge will receive thorough training provided by HGT. Joan Parr continued: “We are seeking to be recognised as fi rst class provider of residential care for the elderly and those with mild dementia. Silver Birch has an excellent reputation locally – one which I’m confi dent will be shared with Willow Lodge.”
