Welcome to the brand new Care Home Management

T

his edition of Care Home Management magazine marks a new beginning for a publication that began life all of 41 editions ago. Edition 42 – March/April 2013 - is a landmark. As you may know by now, JNJ Media Ltd took over publication of the magazine last summer and this is now our third edition. And it marks an exciting new start.

Care Home Management, the only magazine aimed directly at the owners,

directors and operators of the United Kingdom’s care homes, will now be published not quarterly, but every other month – six editions a year. In addition to bringing you information about products and services relevant to the care home sector, we will also have new features such as Personality Profi le, where we look at people who make the care home industry tick. Our fi rst subject is Canadian Andrew Pickup, managing director of Optalis, a care company created by a local authority – the sign of things to come? Andrew has some interesting things to say about the future of both care homes and home care.

A quick examination of the front page will also have shown you another of our changes – a completely new look. Our attempt has been to bring the magazine more up to date with a fresher, more energetic feel. In addition to the magazine, a completely new website is on the way. This will have many new features, including regularly updated news. If you are not already a subscriber you will be able to sign up via the website. We hope you like the changes and please feel free to pass comment if you so wish – editorial@jnjmedia.co.uk is the email address for that or you can fax us at 0844 585 5958.

In this edition we cover a wide range of issues. There are some stark warnings about how 2013 could be a very tough one for care home operators. Time will tell but hopefully the predictions may turn out to be unnecessarily gloomy. We also look ahead to the Care Show at Bournemouth. Indeed you may well be reading this copy at the Show. If you have not had the chance to get there – don’t worry. We will bring you news from Bournemouth in our next edition. Yes exciting times ahead and I hope you will enjoy the news and features we will be bringing you.
