VENTILATION FAN INTEGRATES LED LIGHTING Panasonic Eco Products Division has expanded its Whis- perGreen ventilation fan line to include LED technology. WhisperGreen LED is an ENERGY STAR-rated fan/light powered by SmartFlow Optimum CFM Technology, which detects and compensates for additional static pressure by increasing the air flow to achieve the specified CFM output, exhausting biological pollutants and VOCs. The WhisperGreen LED FV-08VKME3 also features Panasonic’s SmartAction Motion Sensor.
SIDING INSULATION IMPROVED WITH GRAPHITE PARTICLES Progressive Foam Technologies has introduced its Fullback FC Premium and Half- back H20 Premium made of BASF Neopor thermal foam, delivering up to a 20 percent higher R-value compared with conventional EPS with the same amount of material. Neopor contains high-purity graphite particles that deliver higher insulat- ing R-value. The graphite cell structure reflects radiant heat, reduces energy usage and keeps moisture out while letting buildings breathe naturally.
MOMENT FRAME FEATURES YIELD-LINK TECHNOLOGY Simpson Strong-Tie’s Strong Frame special moment frame is designed to help prevent damage to structures in seismic events. The code- listed frame is built upon a patented Yield-Link Struc- tural inelastic deformation demands, keeping the structural integrity of the beams and col- umns intact. With bolt-on/off
ability, the links are fully replaceable if damaged. The technology also enables the special moment frame to be designed without lateral bracing from the beam to the adjacent roof or floor diaphragm.
LEDS REPLACE HID DOWNLIGHTS Toshiba International Corp. has released its TLS- DCA6 and TLS-DCA8 LED downlights, a direct replacement for metal halide or other HID downlights. The products offer a range of lu- men outputs, including 2800, 5500 and 8500, which make LED downlights a viable solution for higher ceilings, such as in auditoriums, shop- ping malls, atriums and concourses. The downlights are available in multiple color temperatures—2700K, 3000K and 4000K; feature 6- and 8-inch apertures; and emit minimal UV or infrared wavelengths.
ROOF BOARD RECEIVES ENHANCEMENTS DensDeck Prime Roof Boards have been enhanced by Georgia Pacific to provide broader compatibility and greater performance with roofing adhesives. In adhered, single-ply membrane testing, enhanced DensDeck Prime demonstrated an average of 24 percent better bond strength than the original product, when using solvent-based adhesives. The board also is easier to cut and handle, as well as provides a cleaner, more consis- tent appearance to the finished roof.
WINDOWS OFFER TRIPANE GLAZING Integrity Windows and Doors now offers a tripane glazing option for Wood-Ultrex case- ments and awnings. Three panes of glass and argon gas create U-factors of 0.18 to 0.2. The windows have achieved a Window and Door Manufacturers Association’s De- sign Pressure rating of 50, which measures reaction to pressure or external force when closed and locked. Tripane glass is available on nearly all current casement
