ollowing the unveiling of its latest technology at CES 2013, Sony showcased an impressive line-up of its 2013 products and technologies to the UK press in its Weybridge HQ.


With its latest offers Sony


responded to consumers’ desire for networking and interacting with friends and family across all platforms and applications. Sony’s products deliver this using Wi-Fi capability, internet connectivity and one-touch function of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.


Among the stars of the show was the new 4K Bravia TV collection, that using X- Reality PRO processing engine, is able to upscale the content from TV broadcasts and Blu-ray Discs to four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD. Following the earlier release of its 84in 4K LED TV, the manufacturer previewed the 65in and 55in X9000


series 4K LED TVs which will be available in Europe from April 2013.


Select Sony 2K and 4K television models, as well as some of its 2013 Cyber-shot and Handycam lines, will feature Triluminos Display technology that delivers truer blues, greens and reds. The new BRAVIA line-up is also smarter than before. It allows to explore media content with TV SideView, the new app for Android or iOS devices. By touching their NFC-


compatible Xperia smartphone against One-touch Remote, the NFC embedded TV remote ,the users can establish a wireless connection. They can also ‘mirror’ their phone on BRAVIA and enjoy their photos, videos and games on the TV screen. The new BRAVIA series also sports new sleeker design enhanced with quartz edge, a circular base and an intelligent ‘core’ function box

products, combining the latest technology with very sleek designs, were the Tap 2, a portable, touchscreen VAIO PC, the Duo II, a tablet with a keyboard, and the waterproof Xperia S Tablet – that can be used even around the kitchen sink!

On display were also action cameras, the compact Cyber-shot DSC- TF1 models, with a rugged design (dust-proof, shock- proof and freeze-proof) for weekend adventures and active family holidays. Sony, wishing to be the leader in the diminishing camcorder market, has also enhanced its Handycam camcorder lineup with the ‘Balanced Optical SteadyShot’ feature. The new camcorder models are also equipped with a built-in projector and can be Wi-Fi enabled with the addition of an optional accessory, so users can upload images to social networking sites via a smart phone or a tablet. ■
