Marcrist – The New Cutting Edge For Reciprocating Saws Marcrist has unveiled the innovative SB850 range of Reciprocating Saw Blades that offer unrivalled cutting performance. The SB850 range represents a major breakthrough in the successful application
of a diamond cutting edge onto blades for this increasingly popular type of machine. Marcrist has made this possible by utilising its wealth of experience in the field
of applying vacuum brazed diamond technology to a wide variety of different types of machine consumable. The result is a range of four blades that offer unrivalled longevity and cutting speed whilst minimising blade whip, a problem frequently associated with other manufacturers’ attempts at developing diamond edged blades for reciprocating saws. Marcrist offers two dedicated
versions of the SB850, a derivative developed specifically for cutting Cast Iron, a notoriously difficult material to cut, and a universal
version that is suitable for cutting the wide range of materials encountered on site. SB850 Cast Iron has been developed specifically with plumbing professionals in
mind and who often have to cut this tough material on site. The SB850 universal blade provides the tradesman with the ability to cut an unparalleled range of materials, including concrete and blocks, wood with nails, plasterboard, insulated cladding and sheet steel, along with aluminium and plastic piping. It offers to make the process of blade selection much simpler for the professional, who can now buy one blade to cut most materials that they will encounter. Marcrist is the first company to offer both these versions of the Reciprocating
Saw Blades in 200mm and 300mm lengths. The longer, 300mm blade provides users with greater cutting capacity and the ability to cut much thicker profiles of material, especially useful for those wishing to cut large diameter pipes. A colour coded system is used to easily identify the blades both within stockists
and on site. SB850 blades with a Red body denote the Universal version, whilst a Black body identifies that the blade is for cutting cast iron. The universal fitting on SB850 is that found on most manufacturers’ machines,
and is suitable for the vast majority of saws available in the UK. In comparison to other methods of cutting site materials the SB850 generates
minimal dust, and the blades have a flexible body that allows the blade to be bent in the cut to allow flush cutting.

Raising £10,000 For Charity Leading hand tools specialist, Stanley, has donated a fantastic £10,000 to The Lighthouse Club in celebration of the end of its gruelling 72-hour charity ‘Big Rebuild’ challenge. As part of an on-going initiative to ‘give something back’ in 2013, Stanley
enlisted the support of its ‘Tool Jury’ to transform a vast, open office space at the company’s Brackmills Distribution Centre in Northampton, into a spectacular showroom, meeting space and training centre in under 72 hours. Incredibly, the project was completed ahead of target in just 55 hours. The Lighthouse Club supports the families of workers from the construction
industry, who have been hit by financial crisis through no fault of their own, so was a natural choice for Stanley when planning this activity due to its relevance to Stanley’s consumers. Chief
Executive of The Lighthouse Club, Sue Nelson, who was presented with a cheque on the day, said: “We are very grateful for this donation and would like to thank Stanley and the Tool Jury for giving up their time, free of charge, to complete this challenge. This money will enable us to provide financial support to thousands of families who have been plunged into economic crisis when they lose income due to illness, injury or death. Stanley and the Tool Jury really have made a difference.” David Osborne, Marketing Director at Stanley Black and Decker, comments: “We are delighted with the success of the ‘Big Rebuild’ and very grateful to the
Tool Jury for donating their time and expertise to help us ‘give something back’ to their industry. The build was a challenge for all involved but one they threw themselves into wholeheartedly and completed in a fantastic time.” This is the first initiative of a year-long partnership which will see Stanley support the charity through a variety of resources in 2013.

Wiha make an IMPACT on the bit world MaxxTor is the next generation of IMPACT bits. High performance drills and impact drivers are placing ever greater demands on bits and many bits are quickly unable to meet this challenge. MaxxTor bits have a torsion zone that enables the bits to twist up to 60° and absorb the strain that impact drivers produce. Wiha have increased the length of what would normally be 25mm bits to 29mm. This not only gives a larger torsion zone but also means the bits can be used in drivers without the need for additional accessories. The longer 49mm bits give an even greater torsion zone and are ideal for use in impact drivers, again without the need for a bit holder. This ability to twist gives the MaxxTor a service life that is several times longer than standard bits. The MaxxTor BitBuddy is an innovative carry case that doesn’t just provide a convenient, pocket sized, protective holder for the bits but also has a unique feature. At
the push of a button, the bit tray tilts open and presents the base of the bits. The Maxxtor bits are then ready to insert directly from holder to driver, reducing handling and the risk of dropping or losing the bits. When finished the bits can be re-inserted from the driver directly back into the BitBuddy. Quick, Easy and Secure.
