>> EVENT / ITEC
Conference proceedings will be overseen by ITEC’s new conference chair Cristiano Montrucchio, Head of Avionic Systems at Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica Company. As the economic downturn continues to drive the budgetary decisions of governments around the world, Montrucchio emphasises how modern training and simulation techniques “will become crucial to maintaining and retaining militaries’ war-fighting capabilities and the counter-insurgency skills gained in the international coalition operations of the last decade. Reflecting this theme, the ITEC 2013 conference will provide an appropriate context for the training, simulation and education sectors to gain a deeper understanding of these issues and propose potential solutions to emerging user requirements.”
Cyber security
ITEC’s debut Cyber Security Training & Education Workshop proved hugely popular with over 90 delegates attending the inaugural event. Following this success, the C4ISR & Cyber Security theme will examine the latest developments in this dynamic and complex domain. Attention will be drawn to the importance of cross- sector expertise and how education and training can be implemented into the defence and military sectors. The role of virtual worlds to help professionals counter emerging cyber threats will be of particular focus. The dramatic weather forecast which has dominated headlines in recent weeks demonstrates a worrying rise in natural disasters over the last decade. As a result, governments around the world are contributing an increasing amount of military assets in preparation of providing a reliable response to complex humanitarian emergencies. Assisting in relief efforts facilitates key training opportunities, while also providing a way for the military to diversify its role at a time when international armed forces are experiencing budget cuts. Bringing these issues to the forefront of debate, expert ITEC speakers will explore the ‘Organisational Requirements and Lessons Learned in Civil Support, Protection and Disaster Management’.
In the wake of a natural disaster, the provision of emergency medical care is of primary importance. Military and civilian healthcare operatives are currently embracing simulation technologies to educate, train, diagnose and treat patients, often in extreme environments where there is need of urgent medical attention. Within the Simulation for Medical Training theme, thought-leading speakers will address the revolutionary new systems training both military and civilian healthcare professionals to help them provide the best possible care.
Delegates attending these sessions will be offered unique insight into the way governments and civilian providers are developing the next generation of medical training. Simulations which improve the interpersonal skills between healthcare professionals and their patients will also feature prominently.
