The ply firewall is glued to the fuselage nose (above left), which is propped up to obtain the correct cant angle. The ply firewall (above right) has blind nuts for

Add cardboard supports to each fuselage side below the fuel tank and above the bell- crank ply mounting plates. Cut out holes in the left fuselage side for the bellcrank lead- out wires and elevator pushrod. Make the firewall, A, from 1⁄4-inch ply. Lo- cate the mounting holes for the KM40 motor mount on the front face of A. Drill the mount- ing holes and install blind mounting nuts on the back side. Drill a hole in A for a fuel tub- ing clearance. Drill two holes in A and install blind nuts on the back side. These holes must align with the holes in C1 and are used to attach the removable cowl section. The following method should be used to

the KM40 engine mount and cowl attach. The bellcrank and fuel tank are attached to 1⁄8-inch ply supports. The fuel tank is held in place with rubber bands.

glue the firewall A in place. First, lay the right side fuselage panel flat on the work board. Put a weight aft of the score at the leading edge cutout to keep the side flat. Then prop up the front end of the fuselage nose by adding a piece of scrap cardboard 0.4 inches high under it (see construction photo). This will give the proper cant angle to the forward fuselage. Now glue the firewall A in place making sure it is at a right angle to the workboard. When dry, glue the bottom piece F4 in place, which locks in the proper cant angle.

Glue the left side of the fuselage to A and F4. Attach the fuel tank to the 1⁄8-inch ply support with rubber bands. Make a pushrod

from 3⁄32-inch wire and 1⁄4-inch square spruce and attach it to the bellcrank along with the leadout wires. Place the assembly over the plan top view to insure that the fuselage sides are properly aligned.

Install the tank and bellcrank assemblies by gluing the ply supports to the cardboard supports on the insides of the fuselage. Note that the bellcrank is installed on the bottom side of the ply support.

When dry, add formers L and M at the rear fuselage, above and below the stabilizer cutout, and glue the fuselage sides together at the tail. Glue F1, F2 and F3 in place to cover the top fuselage. These pieces have
