More Volvo minis for TVE Hire & Sales TVE Hire & Sales based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire continues a long tradition of operating Volvo and Pel-Job compact excavators having just purchased five new Volvo EC17C compact excavators for their hire fleet from Volvo’s utility dealer for the Midlands, Oxfordshire & Berkshire – SM Plant Sales Ltd. As existing users of Volvo utility equipment products namely the 1.5 tonne
EC15B’s, 2.5 tonne EC25’s and the larger 5.5 tonne EC55, proprietors Ian Higgins and Matt Jones have enjoyed good reliability and performance from their machines. “The Volvo product looks right in terms of build quality, there is good access for servicing and we get good feedback from our customers,” says Matt Jones. “We appraised the market to evaluate what was available since we needed to increase our fleet and replace a couple of older units, but at the end of the day the overall package and a good financial deal from Volvo has kept us on board with the product.” And joining TVE’s hire fleet are five EC17C compact excavators supplied complete with canopies, a full set of buckets and e-touch immobiliser systems, bringing their excavator fleet up to twenty six units. “Besides that they stand out against the crowd in terms of their aesthetics and striking yellow and grey livery and so far we are particularly impressed with the new EC17C’s we’ve just purchased,” he continued. The Volvo EC17C is one of four machines ranging between 1.5 and 2.0 tonnes
and is a direct replacement for the EC15B XT model. Powered by a 12.3 Kw (16.8hp) engine, the machine features automatic two speed travel and is available with cab or, as supplied to TVE Hire and Sales – canopy versions. One significant change on the new models is that hydraulic hoses for the digging equipment are now routed through the boom and cylinders are top mounted to minimize on site damage. The 1.7 tonne compact excavator also benefits from load-sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times, even when carrying out multiple functions. Maximum dig depth is a generous 2.3 metres. A single piece engine hood provides unobstructed access to all the engine components whilst the instrument panel provides at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions.
