Employment Liability Claims Trends
Brokers have an obligation to help nonprofit organizations understand the sources of employment practices liability claims.

With continued weakness in the economy, nonprofit organizations can continue to expect claims that arise out of job terminations as well as ancillary retaliation claims. Recent efforts to lower the threshold under the Americans with Disability Act to include such issues as depression and morbid obesity is driving an increase in employment discrimination claims. Immigration issues are also an emerging problem for nonprofit organizations. Wage-and-hour claims will also continue unabated.
