ALABAMA Chapter round-up After a very successful 2012 cam-


paign, CCA Alabama is ready to embark on its best year ever. We ended 2012 with successful events in our Mobile and River Region Chapters in a great sprint to finish off the year strong. When we begin the new year, we will launch the first event of CCA Ala - bama’s newest chapter in Auburn, Alabama. This chapter is made up of a great group of folks and many of the local board are associate members from other chapters all over the state that are attending Auburn University. They are already working extremely hard to make this new chapter a huge success and our state leadership is behind


its annual state board meeting in early October and $175,000 was approved for upcoming projects in 2013, includ- ing refurbishing reefs in Mobile Bay, constructing a new reef close to Dauph - in Island, and construction some juve- nile reef structure 3-5 miles off the coast of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We are working closely with the Alabama Marine Resource Division to get these projects in the water and benefitting many different species of fish in our waters. Finally, our leadership team for 2013


is poised to take us to new levels, with a diverse group of state officers that will make the chapter even stronger. Team members come from all parts of the state with one goal in mind and that is promoting and making CCA Alabama the best it can be for future generations.

Fall Fly Fishing Challenge results The 8th annual Mangrove Coast Fly


Fishers (MCFF)/CCA “Fall Fly Fishing Challenge” was held on Oct. 29, after being rescheduled due to windy condi- tions. Despite the breezy conditions, many fly anglers still had good action in the tournament, put on jointly by the Mangrove Coast Fly Fishers and the Sarasota chapter of Coastal Conser - vation Association. All fish were photographed and then immediately released. Winners were awarded handsome

Donors to the event were Orvis, Redfish Landing Guide Service, CB’s Saltwater Outfitters, Economy Tackle, Discount Tackle Outlet, Flying Fish Outfitters, G. Loomis, Simms, New Pass Grill & Bait Shop and Andy Thornal Company. Tournament partic- ipants were treated to a homemade BBQ meal donated and prepared by Capt. John and Leslie Hand.
