Land of Plenty Welcome to New Guinea and some of its nearby islands. New Guinea is one of the world’s largest islands. Lots of bird species live here. T e Wilson’s bird of paradise is only one of them. Many birds here live nowhere else. Most of the island is warm all year.

T ere is no need for birds to leave when the seasons change. T ere is a lot of fruit to eat. T ere are also many insects. T at means there’s little competition for food. All the birds have enough to eat. T e island has swamps, rain forests,

mountains, and glaciers. Some birds live in the swamps. Others live in the rain forests. T eir paths don’t cross. All the birds have a enough space.
