The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth has one tenure-track Assistant Professor position available beginning Fall 2013 in the areas of manufacturing/production engineering. Job duties and responsibilities include teaching courses (possibly using distance learning technology) and conducting research in the fields of manufacturing and production engineering, advising undergraduate and graduate students, participate in curriculum development, and service. Applicants are required to have an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering field with research experience in manufacturing and/or production engineering by June 30, 2013. Additional requirements include a minimum of one year of engineering-related industrial experience, teaching experience (TA acceptable), excellent written communication skills in English, and a demonstrated commitment to both teaching and research. Preferred qualifications include five or more years of industrial experience, PE registration, college or university level teaching experience, an established record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, excellent oral communication skills in English, a proven ability to support the University’s commitment to equity and diversity, and the demonstrated ability to teach two or more of the following courses: robotics, systems integration, material processing engineering, quality management, simulation/facility planning.
