Electric boilers provide solution at island Abbey
Atlantic Boilers has commissioned two electric boilers at Iona Abbey on the Isle of Iona off the West Coast of Scotland. It forms part of a programme of renewal of the engineering installations in historic buildings including Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle in order to reduce carbon emissions. Work on re- establishing the living accommodation began in 1938 and this year the boiler room has undergone refurbishment. Two Atlantic 90kW Multi-elec boilers are the first stage in replacing four old boilers. A sea or ground heat pump will be added later. l Email
