There is great excitement here at ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine as we prepare to publish this our 200th edition! We have a special pull out feature with an exciting competition for our readers. Do have a go, as there are great prizes to be won, kindly donated by some of our advertisers. You can post or fax your entry to us, scan and email, or there is an online option. Just
visitwww.toolbusiness.co.uk and click on COMPETITION. In the same feature read about the history of the magazine and the wide-ranging development of tools in the years since we published our first edition. This is a busy time of year with trade shows and Christmas promotions. Christine visited
Toolfair 2012, held in Coventry, and Belinda joined her for the Dartford Toolbank Show. Next month we will visit the THS show and ‘The Tool Show” at Kempton Park. This month Peter Brett has written independent tool reviews on a range of Coast
torches from BBB and a Recip Mini Saw from Metabo. Features include Power Tool Update and Garden & Landscape Tools and Equipment. On the 1st October the new government initiative, the Green Deal will start. The
building stock in Britain is some of the oldest in Europe and this initiative is aiming to improve insulation and reduce heating bills. Bill-payers will be able to buy approved energy efficiency improvement measures for their property without having to pay anything up front. Instead, providers, who recoup their outlay, plus interest, via a charge on the property’s electricity bill, will make capital available. If the customer moves, the charge transfers to the new bill-payer. At the heart of the Green Deal offer is a ‘golden rule’ that estimated savings on bills cannot exceed the cost of the work over the lifetime of the measure. The Government is very keen to ensure that small companies play an important role in the delivery of Green Deal energy
improvement measures and share in the Green Deal market - two thirds of the construction workforce is employed by small and medium sized enterprises. The government are predicting that the supply chain could support 100,000 jobs within 5 years. It is up to retailers, installers, and others within the construction industry to apply to become a Green Deal Consortium member. Go to
http://greendealconsortia.co.uk/ for more information on making the most out of this Government initiative. I hope that you enjoy reading this special edition of ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine and don’t forget to send in that
competition entry!
