UK AIRPLAY ANALYSIS  BY ALAN JONES

AFTER CLIMBING 2-1 LAST WEEK, Pink’s Blow Me (One Last Kiss) collapses to six on the radio airplay chart, leaving the way clear for Good Time to return to No.1 for the team of Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City. Good Time first reached the summit a fortnight ago, when its 10-1 surge was accompanied by 2,372 plays generating an audience of 59.04 million. It eclipses both of those totals this week, with a massive 3,551 plays triggering an audience of 61.69 million – enough for it to hold a

slender 0.90% audience lead over new runner-up Hall Of Fame by The Script feat. will.i.am. Some 32 songs were played

more than Good Time on Radio 1 last week, and six on Radio 2 (it was aired 10 times on the former and 15 on the latter) – but the two BBC behemoths contributed 40.48% of the track’s overall audience. Its top supporters: Smash Hits (99 plays), The Hits (89) and four Capital franchises on which it was aired 47 times apiece. After debuting at 11 last week,

Candy man: Robbie Williams is steady at No.11

Robbie Williams’ Candy massively increases its penetration, with plays up 99.64% from 844 to 1,685. Oddly enough, this massive rise is not accompanied by a big

The TV airplay chart is currently based on plays on the following stations: 4Music, Bliss TV, Clubland TV, Channel AKA, Chart Show TV, DancenationTV, Flava, Kerrang! uplift in audience – in fact, the track’s tally of 38.34 million listeners is only 7.54% up on the previous week and leave it becalmed at 11. It was hindered a little by the fact that Radio 2 – where it received its very first play the previous week – reduced support from 10 to nine plays last week, while sister station Radio 1 remained unconvinced by the track, and aired it just once. The stations where you’d be most likely to encounter Candy: Imagine FM (29), Key 103 (25) and a trio of supporters on which it was aired 23 times - Borders, Citybeat 96.7 102.5FM and 107.8 Radio Jackie. Despite its status as the Official

Olympic Song, Muse’s last single Survival struggled for airplay support, peaking at 46 on the radio airplay chart four weeks ago. Follow-up Madness is more of a hit with radio programmers, and dashes 37-14 this week, with 394 plays earning it an audience of 10.27 million. However, 22 plays on Radio 1 and 11 on Radio 2 generated a massive 88.34% of the track’s audience. With the immediate chasing

pack all losing support while climbing, Ne-Yo’s Let Me Love You cements its leadership of the TV airplay chart with an increase of 15 plays week-on-week for its promotional videoclip.
