20 QUESTIONS WITH... Coleman Scott


Coleman Scott turned in a breakthrough season on the wrestling mat in 2012. A past U.S. National Team member at the Senior level in freestyle at 60 kg/132 lbs., Scott finally reached the top in the United States.


And he didn’t stop there. Scott won the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in April before defeat-


ing past World Team members Reece Humphrey and Shawn Bunch to make the U.S. Olympic Team. He made his first World-level team in freestyle, and took full


advantage by capturing a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games on Aug. 11 in London.


Scott, 26, is looking to continue wrestling into next four-year Olympic cycle. The past NCAA champion for Oklahoma State took time out of his busy schedule to talk recently with USA Wrestler: 1. Favorite movie? Lonesome Dove 2. Favorite TV show? Swamp People


3. What kind of music do you listen to in your iPod before you compete? Johnny Cash


4. Favorite food when not watching your weight? Hamburger and fries


5. Favorite sport other than wrestling? Soccer


6. Favorite athlete to watch in another sport? Don’t know if I have just one. A few would be Roger Federer, Kevin Durant, and Lionel Messi. 7. Favorite wrestler and why? Mike Sheets - his toughness and how mean he was on top in college.


8. Best piece of advice you've received? Have to believe before you can do. Do not try, DO! 9. What kind of advice would you give a younger wrestler who is just taking up the sport?


Always believe in yourself and listen to everything the coach- es have to say.


10. Best moment as a wrestler so far? Olympic tournament 11. Who are three people you would love to invite to din-

13. How did you become involved in wrestling? My grandfather was a wrestler, and I decided to try it out at


age 6.


14. What do you like best about training in Oklahoma? The simplicity of life, and it is easy to always get my workouts


in.


15. What is one thing about you most people don’t know? I have never seen Star Wars. 16. Any idea of what you will do after your competitive career is over?


Probably coach, but not sure yet. 17. Coolest place you've traveled to and why?

London is up there. But I enjoy the beach, so probably Jamaica.


18. What does it mean to you to win an Olympic medal? It means a lot. I’m definitely not satisfied though. I want that gold medal.


19. What does the future hold for you in wrestling? We will see. Hopefully, a couple of World titles and an Olympic title.


20. Funniest guy on the team and why? Jake Herbert, for sure. He always keeps everyone calm and relaxed.
