CLEKCLEKTV - LE JOUR #001

FIVE YEARS AGO French-based ClekClekBoom started life as an under-the-radar download site, set up by Jonathan Chaoul, aka Ministre X, and Adrien Creuse, aka The Boo, serving up baile funk by long-serving Rio rudeboy DJ Sandrinho, B-more bootlegs from the UK’s rowdy Tomb Crew and an assortment of other nascent bass fl avours. In 2011, though they ducked out of sight to re-emerge as a record label and have swiftly coalesced into the Parisian equivalent of Night Slugs, a gang of youthful producers and

DJs who skirt the boundaries of multiple club sounds with a savvy modern fl uidity, surfi ng the waves of revivalism that break every few months but re-contextualising their essence to create a thoroughly future-thinking aesthetic. This video goes behind the scenes of their fortnightly Boomcast, catching up with Lunice, Brodinski, DJ Sega and Doc Daneeka. Check ClekClekBoom’s next release from Chaos in the CBD, out next week.

GROOVE ARMADA

SOUNDS of the the Groove Armada, they’re super- stylin’... again. Having conquered main stages around the world and further showed off their musical tastes via their Lovebox festival, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato have headed back to the underground of late, hooking up with one of DJ Mag’s favourite labels, Hypercolour. Already Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune, latest single ‘Pull Up’

welcomes Slarta John to add the heady MC vibes to their jump-up joint. This live set from their Rockers Revenge beach party in Ibiza continues their renaissance with the freshest new house sitting alongside plenty of Groove Armada’s own tracks. So let me see you shaking that ass. Yeah, we did. Deal with it.
