Pallet networks are difficult to classify simply because, although they compete in the same market, their operational structures are very different. Some are membership organisations, some are franchises and some are single companies. Sometimes billing is done centrally,


sometimes it is done through member hauliers. As a result, different networks define their turnover in different ways – some by hub turnover and others by total network turnover. And that means that two companies handling similar volumes of traffic can have dramatically different turnover figures. This is what the latest accounts filed at Companies House


reveal: 


Fortec Distribution Network,which is


a subsidiary of Geodis, reported sales of £5.1m for the year to 1 January 2011. It reported a 19 per cent traffic rise last year and has opened a series of depots in


Scotland bringing the total to six. 


Palletforce reported a total network
