Daleba’s Supply Model – Optimizing PCB Inventory

Terrapin Launched at DVD 2012 – June 20th – 21st

A

mphenol Ltd will be launching its latest MICRO- USB TERRAPIN Connector Series at DVD 2012 –

the UK’s foremost exhibition for equipment and support for military Land Equipment where the DE&S (Defence Equipment & Support) budget stands at £14Billion this year. The highly successful Terrapin connector Series launched at the DVD 2010 exhibition is now complemented by the new generation Micro-USB interface designed especially for harsh environment soldier communication systems. This new product development combines the benefits of a rugged and IP68 sealed connector with the recognised technology of Micro-USB. Micro-USB technology was developed by the USB Implementers Forum, and now replaces the majority of Mini-USB connections for equipment such as PDAs and Smartphones. The specification of the Micro-USB supports the current USB OTG (On-The- Go) supplement and provides total mobile interconnectivity by enabling portable devices to communicate directly with each other without the need for a host computer.

eading PCB supplier Daleba Electronics has unveiled its PCB supply model in schematic form. “We work with our customers to optimize their PCB inventories and lead times through our logistics services and specifically tailored supply models”

says Matt

Chesterman, Daleba’s Supply Chain Director. “Daleba was one of the first PCB suppliers in the UK to offer a consigned inventory program to customers where it’s appropriate, and we also offer staged inventory in our UK hub which allows customers to optimize batch sizes” he continued. “Feedback from our customers is extremely positive on the supply model. The combination of two UK factories for fast-turn and prototypes and our own staff and facilities in the far east to manage our factory partners in China has proved very successful – especially when you overlay our logistics and added value”

Analogue Resistive Touchscreens G

enter 810

PEG is pioneering the use of 4 and 5 wire analogue resistive touchscreens to meet the growing demands for Industrial Designers to create new products that have the same ‘edge to edge’ packaging design - just like an iPad. Unlike costly PCT touch technology (Capacitive) with its high tooling charge and unit costs, GPEG's Edge to Edge AR touchscreens are very cost effective. Designers can easily customise the touchscreens by adding printed graphics.

The touchscreens can be made to any shape you want, can have cut-outs and be specified with either glass or polycarbonate backing panels. Interfacing is easily achieved through standard 4/5 wire controllers in both embedded and microcontroller based systems. Available sizes are from 3" to 23” and are ideal for use in the Industrial, hand-held, professional and instrumentation markets.

Component Tape Splicing from Benz Ltd T

he widest range of component tape splicing systems in the British Isles is available from Benz

Ltd. Keeping automatic pick & place equipment going while changing component reels and being able to use partially used reels, without the loss of components in the leader section,

provides

substantial cost savings. Double Splice Tape for 8mm paper SMD tapes, universal Brass Shims and Cover Tape Extenders for many widths conveniently achieve these aims.

New additions are Top-Splice, a cost-

effective ESD safe way of connecting 8mm SMD cover tapes, and Cartridge Brass Shim, which save time and money by employing the stapler principle SMD tape splicing. Cover Tape Joiners, Radial Component Tape Joiners, Tape Reel Sealers plus single and double-sided clear adhesive foil for test printing and trial placement, without having to clean the PCB before reuse, make life easier for the assembly professional.

Power Efficient

Densitron OLED Displays Offer Up To 150,000 Hours Lifetime

ontinuous improvement in materials and driver IC, and switchover from TAB and COF to COG bonding over the years have enabled power efficiency and lifetime of Densitron OLEDs across all colours to increase significantly. A few years ago Yellow OLED displays typically have 40,000 hours lifetime at 100 nits brightness. Densitron can now offer Yellow OLEDs that have 100,000 hours lifetime at 100 nits and 150,000 hours lifetime at 80 nits. Other display colours in Densitron’s range of OLEDs now have three times longer lifetime than when they were first introduced – please contact us for more details. To cater for individual requirements, Densitron supplies a wide selection of

Alphanumeric,

Monographic and Full Colour OLED displays that enables easy system integration and delivers high display performance in an industrial environment. USB evaluation kits are available and the displays can be further enhanced through Densitron’s Engineering Design Service which offers options on integrating standard or custom display modules with touch screens, PCBs, Plastics, and/or Keypads.
