Full format top recess range

Flat sheet technology advances custom enclosures

The new 7500 series offers six design styles in a range of stan- dard colours.

Four new models, which have a full format top recess for membrane keypads or product labels, now join Rolec's range of enclosure products.

The high performance IP 66 alu- minium enclosures are designed for handheld electronics, which are used in harsh indoor or outdoor environments. Typical applications include test and measurement equipment, machine and robot controllers, detection equipment, and data logging units. The enclosures are manufactured from diecast aluminium GD AL Si 12, are very robust, and offer a high degree of EMC shielding. This can be especially useful for mobile RF equipment. Each 'handcase' consists of three sep- arate diecastings: top, base and battery compartment lid, plus two moulded TPE sealing gaskets and four screw gaskets. The cases are assembled by four stain- less steel screws. There are now two versions available: type 'S' which has a 'T' shaped top re- cess and type 'R' which has a full format top recess for membrane keypads or product labels. Six new enclosure styles have been launched by CamdenBoss, manufactured from its flat sheet technology. This technology enables the company to offer cus- tomer specific dimensions and other customisations without the typical associated design costs.

The flat sheet technology requires no tooling so customers are not faced with any capital outlay. The designs enable the company to manufacture enclo- sures to order quickly and effi- ciently even in low volumes. The company can also incor- porate cut-outs, PCB pillars, LCD windows, LED light-pipes, venti- lation and rubber feet, etc. to cus- tomer specifications. In addition, design flexibility means that should, for example, a PCB pillar

or cut-out need moving or chang- ing, this can be achieved without any cost implications.

The series features a simple two U-shaped snap together con- struction and five standard sizes are available from 81 by 71 by 21mm up to 256 by 126 by 56mm. The enclosures also feature two U-shaped snap together halves with one part enabling wall-mounting via flanged sides. Five standard sizes range from 94 by 46 by 21mm up to 244 by 156 by 71mm. New intelligent and standard 1U slimline fan trays

New versions have been added by Verotec to its intelligent and standard fan trays that offer increased airflow and lower noise from the same fans. The intelligent versions now have a higher maximum operat- ing temperature of 70°C. Designed to provide localised

Drop in panel-mount trackballs

A range of 38mm and 50mm rugged, panel-mount trackballs, 'powered by Pretorian' has been developed ITAC Systems. They can be used with all common communications proto- cols including phase quadrature, USB, PS/2, Microsoft serial, Mouse Systems and Sun, reducing both inventory and minimising commissioning time.

The top plate of each trackball can be shimmed to customise the 'feel' of the ball for each application. The trackballs come in IP65 sealed and unsealed versions. They have five-button and wheel inputs (supported in USB and PS/2 protocols), and feature optional backlighting and piezoelectric sounders for user feedback. The devices are available in a variety of colours, with a choice of industry-standard connectors. The Pretorian trackballs, which have been developed for reliable operation in demanding environments, guide fluids and other contaminants away from the printed circuit boards, the latter having filled vias for addi- tional corrosion protection. cooling of 19" rack mounted or desktop equipment, all versions are 1U high in two depths: 250mm fitted with three fans and 350mm deep with six fans. The increased airflow and lower noise are the result of a new computer-optimised aper- ture pattern that provides an increased 75 percent open area. Mechanical protection is maintained and the new aper- ture design reduces noise as the air passes through it.

The 48V 170 m3/h DC fan intelligent units are available with autoranging AC and single or dual -48V DC power inputs.

They operate at half speed up to 35°C, linearly increasing to maximum at 55°C, ensuring that sound levels and energy consumption are optimised. If the temperature exceeds 71°C, the fans all increase to full speed and an overheat alarm is generated. Warnings are also generated on thermal sensor failure to either open or short circuit and power fail. If one fan in a bank of three fails, the remaining two fans increase to full speed and again an alarm is generated. Verotec www.verotec.co.uk Enter 218

Extruded aluminium enclosures

A range of new enclosures that can be easily mounted to a wall, control panel, machine housing or bulkhead have been released by Teko. The new Tekal-E enclosures feature spe- cial end panels with integrated mounting flanges. These are designed to allow the unit to be mounted without the need to open the enclosure or disturb the electronics. The enclosures consist of an extruded case section and two tough flanged ABS end panels, which are mounted by self- tapping screws. The case extrusion is painted with fine texture powder paint in

either off-white RAL 9002 or black RAL 9004. The matching end panels are light grey RAL 9018 and dark grey RAL 7012. The case section features internal guide rails for mounting slide-in PCBs, and re- cessed areas on the top and bottom can be used for mounting membrane keypads or product labels. The end panels are also recessed for keypads or to protect the con- nectors and switches.

The range consists of 30 individual models with external dimensions from 70 by 60 by 31 mm to 175 by 106 by 46 mm. Twelve models are offered with a battery compartment for 1.5V AA or 9V cells. The company can supply the new enclo-

sures fully customised with additional holes for push-buttons, connectors and controls, plus silk-screen printed legends and logos. Teko www.teko.co.uk Enter 220
