BAE SYSTEMS BROUGH JUSTICE
Brough, East Yorkshire was an empty town on May 2, when 600 workers – almost the entire BAE Systems’ Brough workforce – headed to London to lobby shareholders at the firm’s AGM, over plans by millionaire boss Ian King, to throw them on the scrapheap.
Fighting for their futures the Unite members were joined by supporters including Brough’s MPs Alan Johnson and
7 uniteWORKS July/August 2012 David Davis who addressed the lobby.
Unite national officer Ian Waddell, said, “We’re calling on BAE shareholders to help us force the board to act on its corporate and social responsibility to help this brilliant workforce find alternative work and to do everything possible to keep these highly skilled aerospace workers in the industry.” For more see page 10.
