Apple and Microsoft recently complained that Motorola was using legal injunctions against competitors’ best-selling products to help it ‘gain an edge in the market’. In response to this, and to offer clarity, the European Competition Commission launched an investigation into Motorola Mobility in order to determine if unfairly restricted the use of standard-essential patents by competitors.
