Hot topics in HPC

Less than one hour ago, I finished recording SCW's first webcast – which, by the time you read this, should be available for viewing at www.scientific-computing. com/webcasts. Including webcasts as part of our offering has been something that the team and I have wished to do for some time and when it came to determining the first topic, the decision was an easy one. Regular readers will be familiar with the

extensive coverage we give to the issues within high-performance computing; most notably those arising from the push towards the next generation of computing capabilities. With that in mind, our first webcast is devoted to 'Green HPC'. Presenting their views on the energy efficiency issues are Steve Scott, Nvidia; Bill Mannel, SGI; and Dona Crawford, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contributions and to the webcast's sponsors: Nvidia, SGI and the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC). Log on and have a listen!
