WHAT is it with the Beatport ‘DJ charts’ these days? The inclusion of a Frank Lampard Pepsi Chart For Charity might be timely, given that Euro 2012 starts on Friday, but a) he’s not a DJ (and please tell us it’s not a vocation he’s considering having skimmed the contents of his chart) and b) it’s only got seven tracks in.

While this can be excused, as he is a footballer and only needs to count up to six to make sure there are enough zeroes on his pay checks, the point of these charts is surely to have a top 10, something various DJs are failing to make it up to. The

nadir of this is Zedd’s Shave It Chart which features a measly top three. Whether he couldn’t be bothered or just doesn’t like any other music, hopefully unlikely for a DJ, it shows a depressing lack of imagination and effort. Having just had four days off though, it’s probably the long weekend talking. So in the spirit of extended breaks, ease your way back into reality with the new Permanent Vacation chart from our favourite Munich discoteers, worth it for ‘Bisogna’ by Bostro Pesopeo alone. And in the unlikely event that you don’t like that, at least there are another nine tracks to check.
