14-17 MAY 2012 NEC BIRMINGHAM THE SECURITY INSTITUTE
As Chairman, it is my pleasure to provide a welcome and introduction to IFSEC 2012 on behalf of the Security Institute. Many of our 1,100-strong membership can be found participating at this year’s event – as speakers at the conference and seminars, as exhibitors with their own businesses, as volunteers on the Institute’s stand, and of course as exhibition visitors.
They will all be eligible to score points in our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme, which is available for anyone to use and to download FREE OF CHARGE from the Institute’s website
www.security-institute.org. Anyone attending the conference or seminars can claim a CPD record of attendance by visiting The Security Institute on Stand 3/F37, Hall 3 (just follow the signs for the SELECT lounge).
The Institute is committed to personal professional development, and offers award-winning qualifi cations accredited to BTEC level 3 and level 5 by Edexcel. Our Diploma in Security Management is also accredited by the University of Portsmouth, offering an excellent extra benefi t if you are preparing to study their BSc (Hons) Risk and Security Management. Additionally, we offer student membership and mentoring, and we hold the Register of Chartered Security Professionals. This is a new and exciting stage in recognition of top- fl ight skills and abilities in security practitioners.
We are delighted to announce that The Security Institute has now signed a memorandum of understanding with ADS – the trade organisation for the UK Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space Industries. Both parties have agreed to collaborate and share information to provide maximum opportunity to further develop and maintain a skilled workforce.
As you would expect from the leading UK Institute, we have a strong education and awareness programme, delivered through members’ evenings, master classes, conferences and participation in other organizations’ events, and in this we are grateful for the ongoing support of IFSEC and UBM, and thank them for their continuing support of our AGM.
We wish everyone involved in IFSEC 2012 a successful and fulfi lling exhibition and conference, and look forward to making new contacts and renewing established ones. IFSEC for me is a “must attend” event, and I hope you fi nd it as stimulating and rewarding as I do.
