14-17 MAY 2012 NEC BIRMINGHAM BSIA WELCOME

In this Olympic year, security is well and truly in the spotlight, with the events of this summer providing an ideal backdrop for our industry to showcase its diverse range of products, innovation and talent.

Recognising this diversity and rewarding continued innovation is precisely why the BSIA continues to support the IFSEC Security Industry Awards, which will be presented at the IFSEC Awards Dinner on the evening of Monday 14 May. This year’s range of impressive entries demonstrates our industry’s continued commitment to product development and customer service, and I congratulate all of the fi nalists for their outstanding achievements.

For security buyers eager to protect their businesses against the ongoing risks of theft, criminal damage and terrorism, IFSEC International provides an ideal opportunity to gain a better understanding of the wealth of and navigate the complex security market, providing them with the information and advice they need to make the right security choices for their business.

Providing both security buyers and industry colleagues with access to education and thought leadership is a key function of IFSEC International. Many of the BSIA’s staff and members are taking part in this year’s busy programme of seminars and debates, and I would encourage all delegates to take advantage of this opportunity to hear from multiple experts and industry leaders.

As the trade association representing quality professional security, the BSIA’s stand, located in Hall 4, stand C130, is also an ideal port of call for delegates seeking a reputable and reliable security provider. Association members adhere to strict quality standards and indeed, many of them are represented at this year’s IFSEC International.

Not only is IFSEC International of value to buyers, but security organisations, too, benefi t from the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with like-minded companies. With this in mind, the BSIA is hosting a networking luncheon on its stand at 12.30pm on Wednesday 16 May. An informal event open to both members and non-members of the BSIA, the luncheon will be an ideal place for companies considering Association membership to meet BSIA staff and fi nd out more about the Association’s current activities, the latest industry standards and the wider benefi ts of belonging to the BSIA.

With so much going on, I am delighted to be returning to IFSEC for another year, to forge new relationships as well as to engage with existing stakeholders, in order to reinforce the BSIA’s position at the heart of our vibrant and diverse industry.
