This summer, take part in BIG JUBILEE LUNCH

PTA UK continues to support The Big Lunch – an Eden Project initiative which aims to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours on one day a year, for a few hours of community, friendship and fun.

 Join in!

The Big Jubilee Lunch takes place on Sunday 3rd June and is part of the main programme of events to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. PTA-UK is encouraging PTAs to take part but if Sunday 3rd June doesn’t work for your school community, just pick another date. It’s your party, when you hold it and what you do is entirely up to you.

You could make your event a PTA fundraiser, with stalls, raffles and attractions and open it up to the wider community. It’s a great opportunity to raise some funds, showcase the fantastic year-round work of your PTA and to get parents to connect with one another.

Great ideas

www.thebiglunch.com is packed with hints, tips and ideas for your event - how to get people involved, how to get support from local businesses and simple veggies that can be grown to eat on the day. There’s decoration, recipe and activity ideas to suit all ages and tastes and Eden’s experienced Education team has produced some fantastic free lesson plans and activity ideas covering Key Stages 1-4, which are now available to download. With additional resources from Big Lunch partners Kingsmill and supporting organisations HOPE Together and Eco Schools, there’s plenty of material to help you build anticipation for the big day.

You can also download an organiser’s pack and access a number of free celebrity recipes. To get you salivating and in the mood for summer festive fun, top Chef James Martin has generously provided a special recipe just for PTA-UK members.
