Dear Industry Colleagues,
I want to extend a very warm welcome to all attending this sixth Gulf Incentive Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, whether you are a valued sponsor, partner, exhibitor, visitor, seminar speaker, or delegate or a member of the media covering this important meetings industry gathering.
This event has much to commend it to all in this important sector as it continues to develop year-on-year introducing us all to innovations and concepts that are driving the industry forward. This year the new strategic partnership with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives means GIBTM will deliver invaluable content for all involved in the business travel community, which is another compelling reason to solidly engage with the event.
The importance of the meetings business has been demonstrated very clearly recently when it has shown particular resilience to the challenges of economic uncertainties. Reports emanating out of the USA, including the Meetings Focus, Market Trends Survey suggest that this important sector is steadily rebounding with planners anticipating more meetings, bigger budgets and higher attendance during 2012. This is good news for us all as the US sector tends to be something of a weathervane into how corporations are viewing their meetings requirements.
The surveys though also tells us that planners and buyers will be more price sensitive than perhaps they were several years ago, which puts the onus on all of us to more keenly deliver, competitiveness, innovation and value-add.
Certainly , I am sure we are all eagerly awaiting at this show the results of the 6th GIBTM Middle East Meetings Industry Report, which I hope will demonstrate greater traction for the regional sector.
I look forward to hearing of your successes and advancements at this year’s GIBTM and hope that together we can send a resounding message of confidence to the marketplace.
