Crystek introduces 26.5 GHz hand- formable coaxial cable assembly

Crystek has introduced a line of 26.5 GHz Hand Formable Coaxial Cable Assemblies, a new addition to their Low-Loss RF Coaxial Cables. Designed to operate from DC to 26.5 GHz, the hand-formable CCSMA26.5-MM-086 Cable Assemblies are suitable for jumpers, instrumentation, and high-frequency interconnects.

The 50-Ohm cables provide an attenuation value of 1.40dB/ft. at 26.5 GHz, and offer shielding effectiveness of greater than 100dB with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85ºC. Electrically matched pairs are also available.

The CCSMA26.5-MM-086 cables feature an outside cable diameter of 0.086” and offer a minimum bend radius of 0.125 in. (single bend) and 0.99 in. (multiple bend). Available from stock in lengths from 3 to 12 inches (custom sizing available) each cable is constructed of a silver-

Lane stocking connectors for high-end entertainment applications

Electrical and electronic connector specialist, Lane Electronics, has made available a family of connectors designed specifically for the entertainment industry. Manufactured by Neutrik, these connectors have been designed to meet wide variety of audio, video and lighting applications right across the professional entertainment industry.

plated copper wire center conductor, tin-soaked copper outer braid, and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) dielectric. The high- frequency stainless steel SMA connectors feature a gold-plated brass centre pin.

Molex enhances zSFP+ SMT for 25 Gbps data and telecom

Molex has enhanced the zSFP+ enhanced SMT (Surface Mount Technology) 20-circuit connector enabling it to now meet the needs of high-speed telecom and data communications equipment. Designed for 25 Gbps serial channels in high- speed Ethernet and Fibre Channel, the zSFP+ interconnect assemblies are now scalable for next-generation applications and can provide optimal electromagnetic interference (EMI) and signal integrity (SI) margins in 10 and 16 Gbps channels.

The zSFP+ connectors feature a preferential coupling design using insert moulding and a narrow edge-coupled blanked and formed contact geometry for optimised signal, mechanical and electrical performance while greatly reducing resonance compared to current SFP+ products. Components of the new zSFP+ interconnect system include: zSFP+ SMT 20- circuit connectors, stacked integrated connectors and passive optical cable assemblies. The zSFP+ SMT 20-circuit connector features the same PCB footprint, mating interface and EMI cage dimensions for total backward compatibility as a drop-in replacement for current SFP+ form factor host board designs. The high- temperature thermoplastic housing can withstand lead-free processing. Single-port and 1x ganged cages support multiple port count applications and options for use with various

board thicknesses and assembly processes. The stacked integrated connector and cage is available in a press-fit application that eliminates reflow assembly and offers a compact, space saving design with ease-of-processing. Molex fibre optic LC duplex cable assemblies with OM3/OM4 fibre are used with zSFP+ optical modules, offering a high-performance interconnect solution with customisation options for length and strain relief boots which include straight, 45 and 90 degrees angles. Molex LC duplex connectors meet the EIA-TIA and FOCIS 10 standards and are compliant with MSA devices.

TT electronics Plug and Play connectors approved by Network Rail

TT electronics’ range of ABCIRH connectors now meets the requirements of Network Rails’ NR/L42/SIG/30027 specification following a two- year programme of testing, assessment and trials at Paddington. The ABCIRH connector range from TT electronics is specifically designed for high reliability applications, and can now be used in trackside cabling for applications including signals, points and level crossings. To assist railway subcontractors in selecting the right product for each application, TT electronics has produced a product matrix detailing all the different product permutations. Commenting Geraint Davies, Global Product

Line Director for Traction at TT electronics said, “Our engineers have been working with the technical team at Network Rail for nearly two years to ensure the products withstand the shock, vibration and environmental conditions found in trackside applications. We are pleased to have achieved the NR/L42/SIG/30027 specification and we are already working with a number of subcontractors on refit projects.”

24 March 2012 New SMT Press-Fit product from Interplex

Network Rail is investing £2bn in its signalling infrastructure over the next five years. The use of plug couplers will enable the rail industry to implement the latest technology and increase efficiency in the refit process whilst ensuring reliability. Network Rail is working closely with TT electronics to approve the ABCIRH connector range for use on signalling infrastructures.

Interplex Engineered Products, a division of Interplex Industries, has introduced a new patent-pending Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Card- Edge connector system based on the company’s press-fit technology. The new product is a discreet pick and place SMT component that creates a solderless edge card interconnection for daughter board applications. Theses SMT Card-Edge contacts can be placed on a daughter card using standard high-speed pick and place surface mount equipment. The Surface Mount Device (SMD) solder interface utilises pin in paste through-hole technology as well as recessed channels for improved solder distribution which allows for high mechanical strength at the point of connection. The SMT Card Edge Contact System is designed for standard 1.6 mm (0.062”) thick printed circuit boards (PCB’s) but is compatible with additional PCB thicknesses. The centre minimum PCB spacing is 3.2 mm (0.126”). The product features Interplex’s tested 0.64 mm press-fit technology. It is packaged in a 16

Called powerCON, this connector family is a locking three conductor AC connector with contacts for line, neutral and pre-mating ground contact. It is a suitable replacement for appliance couplers when a rugged solution combined with

a locking device is needed to guarantee a safe and reliable power connection. Neutrik’s etherCON is a ruggedized and lockable RJ45 connector system optimised for professional audio, video and lighting network applications. The chassis connectors are designed to fit into standard entertainment panels while the cable connector carriers upgrade a conventional RJ45 connector to a robust lockable solution.

speakON cable connectors are seen as an industry standard for amplifier to speaker connection. The entire family of 2, 4 and 8 pole connectors feature a robust plastic housing, Neutrik’s unique locking mechanism and touch proof contacts. The 2 and 8 pole versions have a 30A rating while the 4 pole version provides up to 50A for amplifiers and speakers carrying more than 1000W.

High Power, low footprint, up to 40A in/out of the box on d-sub connectors

New from In2Connect mixed-layout combination D-sub connectors are able to offer the ability to integrate signal contacts, 50ohm and 75ohm coax, high power, and high voltage contacts in a standard D-sub shell. The In2Connect standard range of combo D-subs include versions enabling 2, 3, 5 or 8 x 10A, 20A, 30A or 40A solder cup, straight or right-angled PCB contacts or HV contacts to be used on their own, without signal contacts. The combination connectors feature the polarised shielding D shell to prevent miss- mating; high-density space-saving packaging, and diverse mounting options. For example the 8 x 40A contacts sit in a shell size 4 which is the normal 37-way D-sub footprint. Also available are IP67 waterproof power versions, both front- and rear-panel mounting. With Conec’s water resistant D-sub system, the

back-potted and ‘O’ ring mounted panel connectors ensure full IP67 conformity whether mated or unmated and can be further protected by an end cap when unmated. The mating D- sub cable end connector can have a waterproof hood. This has a compression ring to stop the ingress of water via the cable entry point at the rear and a sealing skirt at the connector interface. The cable-end connection will not itself meet IP67 when unmated unless a waterproof cap is fitted. Once mated, the total D-sub connection interface, not just the panel mount D-sub connector will conform to IP67, according to the company.
