Al Gharbia, the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, spans approximately 60,000 square kilometers covering 83 percent of the Emirate’s land mass. In terms of revenue, it generates approximately 40 percent of Abu Dhabi’s annual GDP. Te region’s main industry and source of revenue is from its extensive oil and gas fields; it is home to seven percent of the world’s proven oil reserves, in addition to nearly four percent of the world’s natural gas resources. Agriculture, construction and public administration are among the other highly regarded revenue generators in the region.
