PRODUCT NEWS Solid detergent improves safety
Since its launch, the SolidSafe System from ECOLAB has been attracting a great deal of attention in Sterile Services across the UK, Ireland and Europe. SolidSafe is a patented technology of highly concentrated solid chemistry which enables one 4 kg capsule of MetalClean solid detergent to provide as much cleaning power as approximately 80 L of conventional liquid detergent. The consequent benefits of this are numerous, but of particular note are the safety improvements for sterile services department staff. A number of SolidSafe customers have reported an improvement in back problems among staff due, primarily, it is believed, to the reduced amount of lifting and carrying associated with transportation and movement of heavy barrels of liquid cleaner. This is achieved without sacrificing cleaning efficacy or material compatibility, both of which are maintained to a high standard with the SolidSafe System.

Additionally, the closed SolidSafe
system prevents any leaks or drips from changing tubes and barrels, so slips and trips are avoided, as are potentially costly workflow interruptions. The ‘product out’ alarm system enables a quick transfer of capsules for continuous working. The concentrated capsule significantly reduces waste, offering an environmental benefit, while storage requirements and transportation costs are also minimised.
FAX ENQUIRY NUMBER: H300 Next generation medical pendant
HCA’s Portland and London Bridge Hospitals have equipped their brand new PICU and ICU with BRANDON MEDICAL’s next generation Atlas Medical Pendants. A total of 17 pendants were installed at the head of each bed to maximise the number of patient services immediately accessible around the patient. The Atlas Medical supply pendants have
been upgraded with new rounded arms, smooth exteriors and all hardware is concealed with no visible screws. The pendants loading capacity has been improved in terms of weight and the amount of services available (gas outlets, power sockets, data points etc). This can make working much easier for clinical teams in what is traditionally one of the most overcrowded and cramped areas of a
hospital. Future access for servicing is also improved, reducing downtime and maintenance over the lifespan of the pendant. Further improvements
include a pendant brake indication. Blue and green markers give a visual indication of the brake button and respective bearing improving user manoeuvrability. New lighting options can also be integrated, including LED up lighters in the extension arm, service head or both. These are also available with a dimming function improving patient comfort in the ICU.

decontamination equipment. All BioGen’s new family of DVHPstandard model generators are designed around Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) technology with patents pending. This technology has been developed over many years, and is applicable in both pre-occupational decontamination and service, as well as equipment supply projects. All validated results, confirmed via BIs (Biological Indicators), prove that
Howorth’s BioGen DVHPvapour phase fumigation systems are an effective bactericide, virucide and sporicide and are biodegradable, leaving no residue. A feature of the BioGen
system is its real time cycle monitoring, which can be displayed or downloaded immediately to PC or on-site BMS to give immediate
customer confidence that the decontamination cycle has been effective.
