A Collaborative Approach to Prevent CLABSI in Hemodialysis Patients


This session will review the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s perspective on BSIs in hemodialysis and review strategies for prevention, including data from the Dialysis BSI Prevention Collaborative. The presenters will share their experiences and interventions leading to 1) a sustained reduction of CLABSI and 2) overcoming barriers and enacting change.

This session will review the use of influenza vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, and varicella/zoster vaccines to prevent infections with multidrug-resistant pathogens. The use of vaccines to prevent healthcare-associated infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficilewill also be discussed.
