The 1⁄4-inch ply firewall, with blind nuts (above left) for the KM40 engine mount and cowl attach, has been glued to the fuselage right side. The fuselage bottom piece and 1⁄2-inch triangular balsa gusset maintain the right angle alignment. The
cutouts in the bottom fuselage for the ply gear mounting plate. Make the firewall, A, from 1⁄4-inch ply. Lo-
cate the mounting holes for the KM40 motor mount on the face of A. Drill the mounting holes and install blind mounting nuts on the back side. Drill a hole in A for a fuel tubing exit. Drill two holes in A and install blind nuts on the back side. These holes must align with the holes in C1 and are used to attach the removable bottom cowl section. Glue the firewall A in place to the front of

F8 to complete the bottom fuselage. Attach the fuel tank to the 1⁄8-inch ply sup-
port with rubber bands. Make a pushrod from 3⁄32-inch wire and 1⁄4-inch square spruce and attach it to the bellcrank along with the leadout wires. Install the tank and bellcrank assemblies by gluing the ply supports to the cardboard supports on the insides of the fuselage. Glue F1 through F5 in place to cov- er the top fuselage. Be sure to bring fuel tub- ing fill and overflow lines out during all cov- ering operations.
